SUMMARY

4337 is a building that is never dark. Natural light at every floor during the day, interior life visible from the street at night, the glazing strategy connects all three levels to the Tennyson Street corridor at every hour, giving a building of modest scale a presence that punches well above it. The project stacks three distinct uses across its three levels, office at grade, short-term rentals at the second floor, and a restaurant at the third with a roof deck above, creating a vertical program that activates the building at every hour of the day and every level of its height.

The organizing idea of the design is glazing. Full-width dark-framed windows at each level establish a consistent horizontal datum that reads across the full facade, giving the building a vertical rhythm that is clear and intentional from the street. At the ground floor, large format storefront glazing opens the office to the life of the corridor and draws natural light deep into the interior. The second level windows frame the short-term rental units with the same discipline, and at the third level the restaurant glazing delivers the most dramatic prospect, natural light flooding a dining room that looks out across Tennyson Street from above. Natural light was a primary consideration at every floor, a thread that connects the three distinct uses into a coherent architectural idea.

Steel balconies at levels two and three animate the facade with depth and shadow, projecting into the street plane and giving the elevation a dimensionality that flat surfaces cannot achieve. The material palette of warm red brick veneer and dark charcoal metal panel establishes a character that is precise and refined without being cold, materials that will age well on a street that has consistently rewarded buildings of genuine quality and material honesty.
