SUMMARY
Vallejo Apartments brings MmD Architecture’s urban infill design principles to a mid-rise multifamily building in Denver’s Highlands neighborhood, one of the city’s most architecturally active residential districts. The building organizes approximately 46 units across four stories and a garden level, with structured parking tucked into the base and accessed from the alley, keeping the Vallejo Street frontage engaged with the pedestrian life of the neighborhood.
The primary facade is anchored in warm red brick veneer, cantilevered balconies projecting at each level with wood-clad soffits that introduce warmth and texture against the masonry. A dark charcoal metal panel element rises the full height of the building at center, framing the lobby entry behind floor-to-ceiling glazing and giving the street facade a clear vertical organizing gesture that marks the building’s address with precision. Natural light was a primary design consideration throughout, with generous glazing across every elevation and the full-height lobby glass drawing light deep into the common areas of the building. The design reflects MmD’s sustained commitment to material quality, street engagement, and design authorship at every scale of urban infill work.
